Itinerary

Explore Cusco on a fascinating City Tour that takes you through the most important historical, cultural, and archaeological landmarks of the former capital of the Inca Empire. This tour combines Inca heritage with impressive colonial architecture, offering a complete introduction to the city’s rich past.

The Cusco City Tour begins at approximately 8:00 AM with pick-up from your hotel. Our first stop is the Plaza de Armas, the heart of Cusco, surrounded by beautiful colonial buildings constructed over ancient Inca foundations.

At the Plaza de Armas, we visit the Cusco Cathedral, an impressive colonial temple built on the remains of the Inca palace of Wiracocha. Inside, you will admire golden altars, exquisite artwork, and the famous Andean depiction of The Last Supper featuring traditional local elements.

After the cathedral visit, we walk through original Inca streets lined with finely assembled stone walls until reaching Qoricancha, also known as the Temple of the Sun.

Qoricancha was the most important religious center of the Inca Empire, dedicated to Inti, the Sun god. Once covered in gold sheets, it served as both an astronomical and spiritual center. On top of its Inca walls stands the Santo Domingo Convent, symbolizing the fusion of Inca and Spanish cultures.

We then board our transport and head to the archaeological sites surrounding Cusco, starting with the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuamán.

Sacsayhuamán is a massive ceremonial complex built with enormous stone blocks, some weighing over 100 tons, assembled with incredible precision without mortar. The site was used for important religious ceremonies such as Inti Raymi and offers panoramic views of Cusco.

Our next stop is Qenqo, a mysterious archaeological site featuring underground passages, carved stone altars, and ritual spaces believed to have been used for religious and astronomical ceremonies honoring Pachamama, Mother Earth.

We continue to Puca Pucara, known as the “Red Fortress,” which once functioned as a military checkpoint and resting place for travelers entering Cusco. The reddish tones of its stones are especially visible at sunset.

The final stop is Tambomachay, a sacred Inca site dedicated to water worship. Its stone fountains and aqueducts demonstrate advanced Inca hydraulic engineering and are believed to have been used for ceremonial purposes and royal retreats.

After completing the visits, we return to Cusco by private transport. The tour ends at the Plaza de Armas or with drop-off at your hotel, allowing you to relax or continue exploring the city on your own.
