Cusco City Tour, Sacred Valled and MachuPicchu 2025 Go!

Itinerary Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu

Day 1 Cusco City Tour

We will pick you up at 1 pm from the lobby of your hotel to begin the journey. Then, we’ll head to the Plaza de Armas of Cusco, where you’ll visit its famous cathedral. After that, we will keep walking through ancient streets built by the Incas from the Plaza de Armas to Q’oricancha, the Temple of the Sun.

At Q’oricancha, you’ll be able to appreciate the building methods of the Inca culture and Catholicism. This was the most important religious shrine for the Incas that leads towards the four regions of the Inca Empire.

Then we will carry on by private transportation to the next spot, the car ride will take 20 minutes from the city. You’ll visit the magnificent Inca site of Sacsayhuaman, with its enigmatic 200-ton monoliths, by the way, you will be able to get a wonderful view of Cusco.

After visiting Sacsayhuaman, you will get the car for five minutes to reach the Inca site Q’enqo to appreciate its fascinating Inca altars. Then, ten minutes in the transportation to reach Puca Pucara, a small circular Inca site.

The last stop on our tour is Tambomachay, a shrine devoted to the veneration of water. with impressive water fountains used by the Incas for rituals. Then we will return to the main square of Cusco, where the tour ends or, for more convenience, we will drop you off at your hotel.

Day 2 Pisac - Ollantaytambo

On this day, our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby in Cusco at 8 am to travel along a winding road through the mountains northern Cusco. On the way, we’ll make a stop at the famous Taray Lookout, where you’ll be able to appreciate the Sacred Valley while our tour guide provides some Inca history. The Sacred Valley was one of the main lands where the Incas settled, due to along this high Andean region there is an unusually plentiful expanse of fertile plains

Later, we’ll head to the ruins of Pisac, where you’ll appreciate and learn about Inca culture, including incredible stone artwork, and impressive farming terraces. After exploring it, we’ll return to the lower Pisac town to stroll around the artisan market. After spending a brief time there, we’ll keep travelling to have lunch in Urubamba town. This meal is not included in the tour.

After lunchtime, we’ll continue along the Urubamba River to Ollantaytambo town to visit its archaeological center, an important Inca site built at the height of the Inca empire’s power. In addition, this is an extraordinary site with different enclosures dedicated to several gods and deities, preserving its original layout, functional water channels that still work nowadays, and other features. This town is considered the living Inca city.

Then, you’ll board the train to travel for two hours towards Aguas Calientes town. During this trip, you’ll be able to appreciate glaciers, snow-capped peaks, lush green valleys, farming terraces, and Inca buildings. Before reaching Aguas Calientes (2000 m / 6000 ft above sea level), you’ll enter subtropical areas with bromeliads, ferns, and typical high jungle vegetation. Upon your arrival at Aguas Calientes, our tour guide will take you to your hotel.

Day 3 Machu Picchu

After an early breakfast at your hotel, we will take the 30-minute bus ride to Machu Picchu. The buses start running from 5:30 am, or if you prefer, you can hike the Inca Trail instead of taking the bus. This hike will take approximately two hours from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. For more instructions about the hike, be sure to ask your tour guide.

Once at Machu Picchu, your tour guide will introduce you to the beautiful Machu Picchu. You will head directly to the classic photo spot located at the top, where you will enjoy the sunrise and take magnificent photos.

Then, our tour guide will show you all the main spots of the citadel. This guided tour will take about 2.5 hours and you could learn more about the history and culture of the Inca Empire.

At the end of the tour, you will have some free time to keep taking photos and exploring the rest of Machu Picchu by your own. We recommend starting your return to Aguas Calientes at least 2 hours before your train’s departure to enjoy your lunch (not included) as well.

The train ride from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo will take approximately 2 hours. Over there, our staff will be waiting for you at the station’s exit gate, ready to take you back to Cusco in a private vehicle. The return trip to Cusco will take about 2 hours, and the transportation will drop you off at your hotel in Cusco.

Note:

If you want to climb up Huayna Picchu mountain, there is an additional cost of $75, and you must book it in advance. It’s a challenging 45-minute hike to the top. Another option is Machu Picchu Mountain (different from the Machu Picchu citadel), this hike offers a stunningly beautiful experience, albeit with an exceptionally challenging steep climb.

This experience has an additional cost of $75 per person, moreover, this hike takes approximately 90 minutes to reach the top, offering spectacular views of Machu Picchu and its surroundings.
